Bedroom Update
It's officially spring and time to start spring cleaning and decorating. As I mentioned in my wallpaper post I always talked myself out of decorating because I was a renter and I did not own my townhome. Once I changed my mindset and realized whether I am a homeowner or renter I should have a gorgeous home that I love to come home to. After looking at the bare walls in my bedroom for over a year I knew It was time for an update without breaking the bank. Keep reading to see how I refreshed my bedroom and up-cycled furniture.
After having dark brown wood furniture and dark color bedding for years it was time to switch to a lighter color pallet. When updating my bedroom I wanted to incorporate Blue and Gold to the room and go for a minimal design. To cut back on the cost of buying all new furniture I decided to paint the dresser and nightstand. I repainted the dresser and nightstand and added new hardware to give it a complete makeover. Up-cycling furniture can help cut costs on purchasing new furniture.
A few things to note when up-cycling wood furniture ensure you sand it down and let the paint dry between each coat. With the nightstand, I noticed it was not wood but a particle board material so I used a paint prime which helped a lot. The dresser and nightstand only needed 2 coats of paint. I don't have the exact paint color brand and name but I listed all the available links below. Let me know what your bedroom update plans are below in the comments.
