Roller Skating

I posted this caption on my Instagram a few weeks ago. Someone asked if I got roller skate to skate in or take pictures. My reply, Both! In all seriousness, I looked at it as a reason to workout and have fun. And one fall, I realized it's not as easy as I remembered. I listen to a podcast with Michelle Phan. She explained her experience with meditation and the importance of a creative to getting in an alpha state by trying out new things. Getting to an alpha state of mind can look different for everyone. I realized skating gets me to my alpha state of mind.

Mind to succeed explains alpha state as “right-brain" activity, or our subjective senses of imagination, creativity, memory, and intuition."

This pandemic has been hard for me mentally and financially. As a creative, I work and create in waves. One wave, I am in go mode and coming up with ideas and executing. The other wave is a creative pause period where I simply need a break. During a period of pause, I find myself tapping into something new. I decided to learn the guitar randomly, and it was challenging. Still, it was a great escape from my usual hobbies and interest. I've now turned to roller skating as my new escape to tap into my alpha state of mind.
