Unplugged Wedding

During wedding planning, there were a few things I put my foot down and refused to compromise. One of the non-negotiable was having an unplugged ceremony. You may have read the viral article from a photographer that begged brides to have an unplugged wedding (link). I totally agree with the photographer. I've attended weddings where my view was blocked by an iPad snapping photos.

Photo memories were essential to Drew and me, and we knew we didn't want anything to compromise our photos. I would literally die if my photos down the aisle had phones in front of guests' faces. The ceremony is the shortest part of the wedding, and having your phones away for 30 minutes or less should not cause any harm.

Our unplugged request was written on our wedding website, ceremony program, and a sign entering the reception garden area. Our wedding coordinator made an announcement minutes before the start of the ceremony. The feedback from my guests was that they enjoyed the idea. A few guests ignored the reminders and snuck photos to post on social media, but overall, having an unplugged wedding ceremony was a great decision.
