DIY Pallet Bath Tray

I made an effort to dedicate my Sundays as my Self Care Sundays. I try to use the day to pamper myself with an At-Home Facial, clean up with a sheet mask on and a bath jamming to a slow jam playlist. To elevate my Self Care Sundays I have been on a hunt for a Pinterest and Instagram bath tray. After checking out the price tags I knew this is a project that I could DIY for a fraction of the price. I had the idea to use a pallet board wood and adding a stain. Check out the process below to make your own pallet board bath tray.

Chip I mean my husband lol was able to bring home a pallet board from his job that they tossed out.

(My Tray Dimensions 28.5 inches long x 10.5 inches wide)

Tools

  • Hammer

  • Sander (or a Hand Sander)

  • Saw (or Hand Saw)

  • Drill

  • Clamps

  • Level

Materials

  • Pallet Board

  • Wood Nails

  • Wood Screws

  • Gorilla Glue

  • Wood Putty

  • Wood Stain

    1. Measure the width of your tub. My tub is 28.5 inches wide. I made sure to also measure the width of the lip of the tub (for my tub I measured 4 inches from the edge) to add a block of wood so it doesn't fall off and stays put.

    2. Time to cut the 3 boards down to the tub width. Using clamps to hold the wood down to the table so it doesn't go flying.

    3. Save a small wood piece to add under the tray as a stopper.

    4. Time to sand it all down so it is smooth and no sharp edges of the wood.

    5. Now to the easiest part, gluing it all together. I glued each wood piece together then clamped the wood to hold it secure. I used a moist towel to clean up the excess glue and let it sit for 24 hours to ensure it is dry.

    6. Now to screw the wood intact by creating a pilot hole then a wood screw. In the image below I detailed where I added screws.

    7. I added a wood putty over the screws that I drilled in and let it dry overnight. The next day I lightly sanded the speckle to make sure it was even and disguised the drilled in screws. (you can skip this step if you don't mind having your screws showing.

    8. I stained my tray using this stain. I applied a coat then wiped it off the stain and wait the amount of time listed on the directions. I repeated this 2 additional times.

Now grab a glass of wine and you’r tray and take a long therapeutic bubble bath.
