House to Home: Bathroom Update

Back at it again with a Bathroom Update.

One of my favorite DIYs to date, It took many hours, but I love the finished result. I was on Pinterest, and I found the below pin of a cute bathroom with a spotted print on the walls. I searched the internet and found a similar wallpaper design. After calculating the cost of wallpaper in the bathroom, I had to find a cheaper route. I looked into finding a stencil on Etsy, but then a light bulb went off. I could create my stencil using my Cricut if you have not already read my last post on how to I DIY a Pallet Bath Tray read about it

. I am a renter, and after living in my townhouse for two years, I am so tired of looking at white walls. I decided to go extremely bold and add an accent dot wall in my bathroom. I will be honest this is my favorite DIY yet, this project took many hours, but I love the finished product. If you want to see how I created this dalmatian dot accent wall, keep reading.

Creating the Stencil

I know you are wondering how exactly did I make this. I used a googled Image of dalmatian spots and added to Cricut Design Space and cut the stencils.

I found a jpg image on google of dalmatian dots. I took the image and loaded it into Cricut Design Space the cleaned up the edges a bit. I then placed my acetate sheet on the mat and cut using a custom setting for a stencil.

Now I made a few mistakes, and I would like to share so you can avoid it. When painting the stencil, the best result is to build the paint and not apply too much because of the paint with drip and spot together. Here is a visual for you. Also, It is best to stipple and dab the paint on the stencil than swiping the paint on the stencil.

Painting Time

I taped the sheets on to the wall and stippled the paint on.

Be sure not to add too much paint because it will drip (I made this mistake). I learned when stipping the paint, less is more because you can build it up. Once I stenciled as much of the wall space, I freehand dots in any open area with no dots.

To add flair to the bathroom, I hung up artwork and wall pennants. The wall decor embodies feminity and women's power.

I know your thinking if you're renting how do you plan on covering this up? Well, that exactly what my husband asked. My reply, I will figure it out when the time comes lol.
